The STOP-DWI impaired driving crackdown will begin on Friday, May 24 and run through Tuesday, May 28. During this time, participating agencies will collaborate across the state in a coordinated effort to reduce the number of impaired driving-related injuries and deaths.
The STOP-DWI Memorial Day crackdown is just one of many enforcement initiatives throughout the state promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. Other annual occasions targeted include the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, the Super Bowl and St. Patrick’s Day.
These highly visible and publicized efforts aim to decrease the number of impaired driving incidents.
Participating agencies encourage motorists to download the “Have a Plan” mobile app that can help ensure a safe ride home. For more information, click here.
“Impaired driving is completely preventable,” says the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. “All it takes is a little planning.”
